Brett Barbour - Catalyst Construction

Brett Barbour, Business Development Manager

At Catalyst, we’ve learned that some of the most important work we do happens long before construction begins. Clients often come to us with an idea, an opportunity, a piece of property, or simply a problem they’re trying to solve. Those early conversations can be exciting, but they can also be complicated. That’s where Brett Barbour, Catalyst’s Business Development Manager, plays an increasingly important role.

Brett joined Catalyst with more than 15 years of experience working within the architectural and engineering side of our industry, including roles in both design and project management. That experience gives him a unique understanding of what it takes to move an idea from early vision through design and toward something that can actually be built. Today, he brings that perspective to the earliest stages of our clients’ projects by helping organize ideas, developing early conceptual imagery,  evaluating financial frameworks, and most importantly – moving conversations from “What if?” to “Here’s how.” By providing comprehensive pre-development services for building projects and real estate developments from the earliest stages of the process, Catalyst supports and guides all types of clients to ensure their projects are positioned for success.

…a unique understanding of what it takes to move an idea from early vision through design and toward something that can actually be built.

Brett’s strengths are especially complementary to Catalyst’s relational and vision-driven approach to business development. As Robbie Osenga describes it, Brett has become “the yin to my yang, the left brain to my right.” Robbie naturally gravitates toward relationships, vision, ideation, and connecting possibilities; Brett has a gift for taking those possibilities and giving them structure. His years working in design and project management allow him to see a potential project through multiple lenses, helping make sure the right questions get answered, the right people are brought around the table, and the many moving pieces of an emerging project begin moving in the same direction. Together, that combination allows Catalyst to better serve clients who may not yet have a fully defined project, but know they have an opportunity worth exploring.

Ultimately, Brett’s role reflects something we believe deeply at Catalyst:

our job doesn’t begin when construction starts.

We want to be useful much earlier than that. Sometimes the greatest value we can provide is helping someone understand what is possible, what it might take, and what the next right step should be. Brett’s combination of industry experience, thoughtful project leadership, and disciplined follow-through has strengthened our ability to do exactly that.

We’re grateful to have him on the Catalyst team and excited about how his leadership is helping us become an even better partner to our clients, from the very first conversation through the realization of their vision.
